Affiliate Cookies Types

The affiliate market can be very confusing for new internet marketers, because of that many new affiliate don’t pay attention to the small details and tend to ignore things that can change their internet marketing strategy.

If you are newbie or just struggling to build your online business you should pay attention to one very important thing and that is affiliate cookies types.

As an affiliate you promote a merchant product by a special link. This link is given to you by then affiliate network or by the merchant himself.

When a potential customer click this link, a cookie with your affiliate details is stored on the his  computer.

Now if that visitor will buy the product form the merchant website you will get your commission for that purchase.

But, what will happen if that visitor want to dig and find more opinions or special  deals on the same product.

He surf from one website to another and clicked another affiliate link (one that is not your) and buy the product .

Who will get the commission ?  You or the other affiliate.

Type of Cookies

That’s where the affiliate cookies type will make the difference, basically there are two type of cookies.

The first type of cookies is a cookie that replaced when another affiliate link is clicked (clickbank use that cookie).

The other type of cookie is one that is not deleted when another affiliate is clicked and stayed on the visitor computer until it expires or deleted by the visitor himself.

Let’s go back to our example who will get the commission ?

If the cookie in of the product above is the first type then the other affiliate will earn the commission, but if we are dealing with the second type of cookie then your cookie will not get deleted and you will get the commission although another affiliate link was clicked after yours.

The oblivious difference between the two cookies types is well explained but you should pay attention to one more thing.

As a newbie you life will get harder when you dealing with the second type of cookies (unless you are the first one the caught the visitor).

Start promotion only the first type of cookies until you build your confidence and only than jump to the deep waters.
